Starting your day with a perfectly made bed is one of the best ways to enjoy life. At least, that's what most of the self-help books proclaim. We all scroll through Pinterest pictures and envy bedrooms that seem to be straight out of interior design magazines. The secret to preserving your beautiful bedroom for every season is mastering the way you organize and store your bedding. Taking care of what you have now is totally worth it, especially when one decorative pillow can cost you more than your bed sheets! Here are the 5 most crucial steps to organizing your bed linens.

1. Less is more

At the end of the night most people struggle to find a place to put all those decorative pillows and extra blankets. The wonderful accomplishment you feel of making your bed in the morning is then lost to your expensive linen thrown on the floor for the rest of the night. The enjoyment we get out of our picture-perfect organized bed is short lived and totally not worth the money we put into it. It helps to be budget conscious when purchasing decorative linens for our bedrooms. Less is definitely more, minimum effort can still be beautiful, and we can get more value out of our bed linen by cutting down on the quantity.

2. Find a dark and cool storage area.

If you're lucky enough to have one of those amazing family heirlooms of beautiful wooden chests or trunks to keep your bed linens in, then by all means use it! Since most of us live in a world with modern touches, we have to use storage space for multiple things. So, before you go out and purchase an antique furniture piece for storage, utilize what you have. It could be a corner of your walk-in closet, underneath your bed, or multiple shelves in your linen closet, either way, you want to find a dark and cool storage area that will keep your bed linens clean and dry.

3. Buy the right storage containers.

Besides expensive cookware that’ll last us a lifetime, or the perfect sofa that sets up our living room, our bedrooms get the most of our attention. It’s important to take care of what matters most if we want to get value out of the things we own, and the way we do it is through proper storage. With Spring officially here, it’ll be time to take those heavy, cozy comforters and swap them for lighter, cooler blankets. We usually switch up our bedroom motif for brighter colors, a wonderful reward for all the spring cleaning we’ll have to do. It’s important to carefully store those expensive decorative pillows, throw blankets, and comforters for next season. Buy storage containers of various sizes that will accommodate your bed linens and the space you plan to store them you can either vacuum seal them and slide them under your bed or get plastic storage bins you can neatly stack in the closet.

4. Find hidden places in your bedroom.

If you are pressed for space within your home or apartment there are areas in your bedroom you can neatly organize your bed linens. You can use the bottom drawer of your dresser or hide your storage bins behind a reading nook chair. You can even make it a part of your furniture by placing it in wooden hampers or stylish containers that compliment the look and feel of your bedroom.

5. Layer your bed linens with great scents.

Since your beautiful and expensive bed linens will be hibernating for at least three to six months, be sure to layer them with sachets as you organize them for storage. You can wash, dry, and neatly fold your bed linens into a storage space of your choosing. They'll be less wrinkled, sanitized, and smell wonderful, ready for your next use. Happy organizing!
